About Olive & Twine

Hi!

I’m Olivia, founder and owner of Olive & Twine Floral Company. I have worked every aspect of the event planning and floral industry for over a decade. If you were to ask me where my career began, my ready answer would be learning how to make boutonnières at the age of fourteen, a skill that kickstarted my love of floral design, leading to making all my prom/ball dates’ boutonnières and eventually my first floral job as a floral design assistant in Walnut Creek, CA. But, if you were to ask my family where I got my start, they would say I have been working with nature’s treats for much longer—foraging for blackberries or peaches in the backyard to make pies and cobblers (that is, if they weren’t eaten up on their way to the baker’s board!) to asking mom and dad to pull over on family trips when passing a sunflower field to pick flowers and brighten the journey. In either case, I’ve always been drawn to work with my hands, work with beautiful materials, and celebrating the opportunity to bring joy into others lives.

A Bay Area local, I’ve apprenticed with local bakers, caterers, florists, and event coordinators. When I was sixteen, I apprenticed to a professional baker, honing a craft that began in my backyard and mother’s kitchen. I learned the value of hard work and attention to detail (4am comes early!), while also developing an appreciation for time management, an understanding of client needs, and the essential components of planning any event, whether large or small. I carried this work ethic with me into later years, putting myself through college (go Gaels!) while working with the finest Bay Area, Napa and Sonoma caterers, event coordinators, and floral designers. After graduating with a degree in kinesiology, I decided to pursue my life-long passion of helping others make their wedding design dreams into a special reality.

Since taking that first plunge, in August 2018, I took another and married my sweet husband, Matt, in Trinity, California. As the bride for a destination wedding, I coordinated the whole event from a distance, arranging accommodations for the bridal party and extended family (including travel arrangements for my family in New Zealand), planning all the meals, doing all the floral arrangements, and I managed to get married in the process! All of which is to say that I have an understanding of what it means to be a bride and a wedding coordinator, and I am happy to help/give advice in whatever manner you need to insure your day is the absolute best.

I have a deep love for the outdoors, cooking, planning, helping, and of course floral design. I love creating arrangements with a natural feel, that are loose, wild, and free. I always strive to make an original, lovely statement around bursts of color to compliment both the person and the occasion. In other words, I try, with every snip, to capture a bit of nature’s beauty in a handful of flowers.

If I sound like someone you would like to work with to make your day everything you deserve it to be, please contact me so we can start planning and I can start helping!

Warmest regards,

Olivia
